Sirens, a self-directed women's choral ensemble, will do "Tunes of the Sea" at Summerside's Trinity United Church on Sunday, January 18th, 7:30 pm.
"Tunes of the Sea" consists of collection that integrates motifs of loss, remembrance, legend, purification and mythology. During the initial fifty percent of the program, Sirens will certainly guide its audience through the loss of a loved one at sea - from departure to death, via despair to approval, plaguing harmonies as well as smooth motion will certainly produce a mixing collection. The 2nd portion of the concert checks out the role of the sea as a source of purification as well as rebirth, while discovering its unknown depths.
Repertoire will include jobs by contemporary and classical authors. Showcased are beautiful setups of Christina Rossetti texts by Steven Chatman, Allan Bevan, and Eleanor Daley. Setups of widely known spirituals and folksongs such as "Wade in the Water" and "Frobisher Bay". Classic works to be executed are Lili Boulanger's "Les Sirènes", Gustav Holst's "Hymn to the Waters", as well as Samuel Barber's "To Be Sung on the Water". Sirens will be signed up with by pianist Stephanie Cole for many pieces.
Tickets could be purchased at the door, or ahead of time with Trinity United Church's administrative workplace; rates are $15/ $10 for pupils as well as elders.
